“Japanese students can’t choose courses by themselves and have fixed classes, so periods one through six have the same members,”
Takada
The most difficult change from Takada’s everyday life, besides not being able to see her dog Anko, in Tokyo would be the different modes of transportation. After commuting one hour each morning by train to get to school, Takada now takes the passenger seat in her host family’s car each day. Weighing the pros and cons of both methods, Takada decided to favor the carpooling here in California even though the daily commute in Tokyo gave her extra time to do her homework.
